Down The Rabbit Hole Again

This past week I planned to spend time on four projects. First - get ready for an upcoming art crawl. Second - work on new jewelry. Third - finalize the design for my maker’s mark. Fourth - write a few informational pages for my website.
The only project I completed was the maker’s mark order (it is in the mail YAY!).
My number one priority was preparing for the show. I will have a table at Art Express – Destination Smyrna is October 17, from 5:00-8:00 pm, Smyrna, Tennessee. A three-hour show plus two hours to set up and take down. It is inside and they provide the table and chairs! Easy-peasy.
Years ago, when I decided I no longer wanted to do outside shows, I gave away or tossed most of my tattered displays. I didn’t remember how much was gone until I went through the show storage bin. I needed a lot of stuff – I mean a whole heap of stuff. I only had a few days to get the stuff. I had limited funds to get the stuff. My panic alarm was blaring.
Google, here I come!
OMG y’all – stuff costs a truck load more than it did 20 years ago! But I needed stuff. I selected the expensive displays I couldn’t live without. I tried to ignore the total. Fortunately, before I burdened my credit card and hit the complete purchase button, I remembered I had a plan to be fiscally responsible this time round. I deleted the cart and looked at less expensive options. I stayed on budget and ordered everything I needed. It won’t be amazing, knock your socks off but it will look fine. Lesson learned from the past – sell first then invest.
My panic alarm, though somewhat calmer, will blare until the purchases are delivered and deemed to be as pictured and described.
To take my mind off the blaring alarm, I focused on my website. A few hours writing how stones have been used through history and their meanings today turned into three days of obsessing on pages I am not close to uploading. Down the rabbit hole again.
I wasted time fiddling with words when I should have been getting ready for the show. I wasted time fiddling with words when I could have been playing with fire. Setting priorities and time management remain an issue.
To get ready for the show, I still need to decide which pieces of jewelry I will take, polish them, and put price tags on them. I need to decide what props I will use. I need to decide on the table layout. I need all the stuff I ordered to arrive. I need to decide what to wear. I need to get cash for change. I need to remember how to take credit cards on my phone. I need to settle down, do my organizational thing with lists, and start staging the show bin.
For the next ten days, my top priority is getting ready for the show! Yes, I am excited.
